Description

Rubber-sheathed cable for repairing electrical appliances

The Akyga® AK-OT-05S power cable is fitted with a CEE 7/17 plug and exposed wires that can be connected directly to the appliance’s terminals. This makes it ideal for repairing power supplies, chargers, power tools, LED lighting and other AC-powered appliances. The cable is 3 m long, ensuring ease of use and allowing it to be routed freely from the socket to the equipment being repaired.

The cable does not have a protective conductor and is therefore intended solely for Class II appliances, i.e. equipment with double or reinforced insulation that does not require earthing.

2×1.5 mm² copper conductors

The cable is made from H05RR-F cable with two copper conductors, each with a cross-section of 1.5 mm². The rubber insulation ensures flexibility and increases the cable’s resistance to mechanical damage. As a result, the cable is well suited for use in workshops and in places where it is frequently moved or coiled. The CEE 7/17 plug fits the type E and F sockets commonly used in Europe, including in Poland, Germany and France.

Exposed conductors facilitate installation

The open-ended cable can be adapted to the connection method in the device being repaired. The conductors can be fitted into a terminal block, a screw terminal or another suitable connection point.

Before fitting the connector, it must be properly prepared and secured. The connection should be carried out by a person with the appropriate knowledge and experience. All work must be carried out with the power supply disconnected.

For service centres, workshops and home repairs

The AK-OT-05S cable is a good choice for service technicians, electricians, electronics engineers and DIY enthusiasts. It can replace a damaged cable in a device or be used to power suitably protected prototypes and test benches.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the CEE 7/17 plug and the CEE 7/7 and CEE 7/16 plugs?

The CEE 7/17 is an unearthed plug designed for Class II appliances and rated for currents up to 16 A. The CEE 7/7 also supports currents up to 16 A but features the protective contacts required by Class I appliances. The smaller CEE 7/16 plug, known as a Europlug, is designed for appliances with low power consumption and supports currents up to 2.5 A.

Is a cable with exposed wires safe?

Yes, provided it is installed correctly. The wire ends must be properly insulated and positioned inside the appliance in such a way as to prevent accidental contact with live parts. Installation must always be carried out after disconnecting the cable from the socket.

Does the CEE 7/17 plug fit into sockets throughout Europe?

Not all of them. The CEE 7/17 plug fits into common type E and F sockets used in countries such as Poland, Germany, France, Austria and the Netherlands. It does not fit directly into, amongst others, British type G sockets, Swiss type J sockets or Italian type L sockets.

What is the maximum load current this cable can carry?

The H05RR-F 2×1.5 mm² cable with a CEE 7/17 plug is rated for a current of up to 16 A at a voltage of 250 V AC. The permissible load of the entire connection also depends on the appliance’s specifications, the terminals used and the correct installation of the cable.

What should this cable not be used for?

The cable must not be used with Class I appliances that require earthing, as it does not have a protective conductor. It is also not intended for use in permanent electrical installations or for powering appliances whose voltage or current draw exceeds its specifications. The cable must not be used with exposed or inadequately insulated conductors.
