7.2 V Li-Ion battery pack for electronic devices
The Akyga® AKY2835 Li-Ion battery pack consists of two INR18650 cells connected in series. This design provides a voltage of 7.2 V and a capacity of 3200 mAh. Battery packs of this type are used to power, amongst other things, portable equipment, alarm systems and remote-controlled models. Lithium-ion cells offer a high energy density whilst maintaining compact dimensions, and they lose their stored charge slowly during storage.
Battery in a 2S1P configuration
The designation 2S1P describes how the cells are connected. The number ‘2’ indicates two cells connected in series, whilst ‘1P’ indicates a single parallel branch. In this configuration, the cell voltages add up to a total of 7.2 V. The capacity remains at the level of a single cell, i.e. 3200 mAh.
Protection provided by the PCM
The PCM ensures the safe operation of the Akyga® AKY2835 Li-Ion battery pack. It protects the cells against overcharging, excessive deep discharge, overloading and short circuits. In this way, it helps to increase safety during use and reduce the risk of premature cell wear. The PCM does not control the charging process; therefore, the pack requires a charger designed for 2S Li-Ion batteries, with a charging voltage of 8.4 V.
Cable with a 2-pin Cvilux connector
The battery is fitted with a 175 mm cable, terminated with a 2-pin Cvilux connector. This design makes it easier to connect the pack to a device and avoids the need for soldering the wires. It is essential to check the polarity of the plug before installation. The same connector shape does not always mean that the positive and negative wires are arranged in the same way.
